WelcomeThe World Peace Shop, a part of Maitreya Buddhist Centre and can be found at 13 Sea Road, Bexhill. It is open from 11.30pm to 5.00pm Monday to Saturday, although the opening hours will be longer depending on the availability of voluntary labour to staff the shop. The World Peace Shop's web site is curently being revised and updated so that hopefully you will be able to browse and purchase items that the shop sells over the internet. We will keep you posted on this as it develops. Please feel free to drop in to the Centre and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of properly fitted out meditation rooms, or join in with group meditations and prayers. Purchase Dharma books and related items, read Dharma books in our own library and rest area whilst tasting a delicious, fairtraded organic beverage purchased from our tea/coffee bar, or just chill out and relax with your spiritual friends and catch up with all the Dharma developments at Maitreya Centre! The shop has a wide range of the books and sadhanas that have been composed by the Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, and stocks a wide range of items that are useful to meditation practice, such as malas, incense, Buddha statues and pictures, meditation cushions, CDs of Buddhist prayers, etc. There is also a range of high-quality cards, gifts, and fairtrade/ethically sourced products complementary to a spiritually-based lifestyle. The staff at the shop, all volunteers, look forward to welcoming you and serving you (it's good bodhisattva practice for us!). With that in mind Volunteers are needed. If you would like to help staff the Centre's shop, even if only for a few hours, your help would be most deeply appreciated. No skills or experience are needed, as just enthusiasm and a smile is enough! There is no need for you to be a Buddhist either, although a sympathy for Buddhism would be welcome! Come and have a look and see what our shop looks like. |
